Eye Shadow

Eye Makeup

A good eyeshadow will stay on for at least 10 hours. For example Clinique, Stila or
Bobbi Brown it generally lasts all day and they have some great colors as well.

What a good eyeshadow does not:

  • wipes-off or smudge after application
  • fade away in few hours

How to apply eyeshadow:

  • You have to use a base before applying eyeshadow in order to keep it  from
wearing off quickly. You may use a creamy eyeshadow underneath powder
eyeshadow, as well. Do not use foundation. A good primer will prevent the
smudging, shows the color better and helps the eyeshadow to stay on longer.
For example: Clinique Touch Base for Eyes, Shiseido
  • Using a base you will avoid the creasing of your eyeshadow
  • You will need at least two eye shadow brushes - one to apply shadow all over the
lid and one to blend it with
  • Start with a light nude shadow all over the lid, from the base of the lashes to the
brow bone. A shade with a bit of shimmer will be ok as well.
  • Finish off with a darker shade in the crease

Very good eyeshadow brands to try:

  • Stila
  • Dior
  • Chanel
  • Bobbi Brown
  • Estee Lauder

What color eyeshadow would bring out the dark blue in my eyes?

If you like the smookey look though, try a gray, but not too dark. I usually go with
neutral colors like browns. Brown is the polar opposite of blue. Opposite colors help to
enhance one another, so a medium brown will be your best choice.

Choose a warmer brown if you have warm skin and a muted brown if you have cool
skin. You don't want to wear blue because then your eyes are just competing. Blue will
not bring out blue, it will only mask it.

What color of eyeshadow looks good with blue eyes?

light purple, a lighter blue (lighter than your eyes), gray [the smokey eye look would be
good], pink, brown (it REALLY brings out your eyes)
light blue, natural colors, and soft pink

Glittery eyeshadow

What is the best eyeshadow color for green eyes and fair skin?

nice darker purples or rich browns. Without the primer the eyeshadows have very little
pigment. Use the primer and those colors will pop.

How do you keep eyeshadow with glitter on your eyelids and the glitter off your
cheeks?

Unfortunately, a lot of glittery shadows have this problem. Your best bet is to stay away
from glitter. But if you really want to be able to wear the ones you have, try these tips:

- Always wear an eyeshadow primer, such as Mac Paint Pots or Urban Decay's 24/7, as
this will help adhere to shadow to the lid.

- Another trick Mac artist use is using a eyeliner pencil in a similar color, applying it all
over the lid (or wherever you want your eyeshadow to be) and then applying the
shadow on top. It will give the color and extra punch, and the glitter will stick to the
creamy pencil texture. This will also help you use less product which means less fallout.

- Moisturize your eyelids. I know it sounds dumb, but if your eyelids are dry, even with
primer, the shadows will flake off.

- Do you eyes FIRST. I have a similar problem, and what I do in the morning is apply all
the upper eye makeup first, such as primer, eyeshadow, liner, etc. Blink really fast a
few times. Wipe any fallout from under your eyes with a makeup removing towelette.
Apply concealer to the under eye area, and if you need to apply any shadows or liner
on the lower lids, do it now. Sweep a clean brush under the eyes to wipe away any
additional fallout, then continue with your face primer, foundation, finishing powder,
etc.

How can I get rid of creases in my eyeshadow?

Use eye primer.

How do i apply eyeshadow so it makes a difference to my face?

the medium color should go on your lid and also a little above. the darkest in the
crease of your eyelid and the lightest as a shimmer/highlight just below the brow... if
you'd like to emphasize your eyes a little more, you can do a little on the bottom of the
eye lid around the eyelashes and they can give a little sparkle there too (you can
improvise if you don't have three different shades).

Something that makes dark eyes stand out really well is a green smoky eye. It is sultry
and alluring and really works with olive skin tone.

What color eyeshadow should I wear with a bright pink dress? I have dark brown hair,
and light brown eyes, and I am pretty tan.

Do a smoky eye

How to make eyeshadow look brighter on the dark eyelids?

A way is to use a conceal.

What eyeshadow goes best with blue and brown eyes?

Green eyeshadow looks well with brown eyes.

I wear glasses and I was wondering if people with glasses would still look nice with
eyeshadow? I have dark brown eyes.
Gold and pink families of color are great with brown colors! Try out eyeliner and always
wear mascara..it'll make your eyes stand out from behind your glasses.

Blue eyes can wear just about any eyeshadow. Dark colors would probably make the
eyes look really bright.

What eyeshadow colors should you wear with particular outfits?

Don't match your color shadow with the color of your outfit. Pick a shadow that will go
with it.
