Red Irritated Skin - Redness
There are different types of redness. Some people have persistent redness, others
have reactive redness or instant flare-ups.
You might ask how can you be sure which category your skin belongs to! That's why I
will describe each of them.
Rosacea or Persistent Redness is permanent red, irritated skin. Sometimes it's itchy
or even swollen. Usually, there are visible blood vessels and bumps.
Rosacea may be genetics or can be caused by environmental factors.
If you have rosacea or persistent redness you have to keep in mind to treat your
skin very gentle. Your skin needs a very delicate touch.
Dermatologists and skin care experts recommend you to use gentle cleansers, very
mild liquid exfoliation and oil-free moisturizers. The products that you use have to
contain calming agents and they have to be fragrance free (fragrance is one of the
main irritants for your skin).
They will help to soothe irritation and redness. Antioxidants are a must in your
treatment. They provide protection that will help reduce future flare-ups. Using sun
protection is very important, as well.
As an accredited make up artist and skin care
expert I recommend:
Clinique Redness Solutions.
There is a soothing cleanser(26$), a daily oil-free
moisturizer(53$),a protective base with SPF 15
(21.5$) and a new great mineral powder, talc-free
mineral treatment (39.5$).
Very good products. They really work. Best products
on the market at the moment for this kind of concern.
Instant Flare-ups or Occasional Redness
Irritated, itchy, on-and-off flare-ups are generally skin reacting
to weather, stress, waxing and cosmetic procedures, or allergies.
Occasional redness can be caused by extreme temperatures, harsh
chemicals, exercising, spicy food, allergens (fragrance) or even
waxing. Most of the time the red disappears in time.
Using products they include calming agents and antioxidant
protection will help to speed recovery and reduce the frequency
of flare-ups.
