There are so many cosmetics brands out there and sometimes it can be a little bit
confusing. Some people are choosing their face treatment or
makeup by price.
They buy whatever is the most expensive. Others are buying the most advertised
ones. Others are buying whatever smells best. Some buy whatever is the
cheapest. From my experience I can tell they are all wrong. Everyone should buy
what works best for their skin needs at the moment. That's why you need to be
skin typed by an expert first.

One of the main skin concerns of women and men(sometimes), is wrinkles. Some
people want to prevent them, others to repair them.

Let's talk about prevention.

First of all, it's very important for you to understand what's causing the aging of
your skin.

TIME
Most of the women I've met as customers blame their age for their wrinkles. That's
not entirely true. Time is not your first enemy but your last.

SUN DAMAGE
While nothing can prevent wrinkles caused by repetitive motion, you can prevent
wrinkling and other skin damage that results from UV rays. Also, dehydration can
make your skin more vulnerable to UV and environmental damage.
The dermatologists opinion is that almost 85% of all skin damage before age 50 is
sun related. All the exposure to UV rays adds up.

That's why I recommend  to all my customers (no matter what their age are) to use
sun protection every day. When I recommend wearing daily sun protection, I often
get this: " I don't need sun protection because it's raining...or it's cloudy ...." No
kidding. In Vancouver it rains a lot. We all know it so well. But thinking this way is
completely wrong. People usually associate the sun with both UVA and UVB rays.
Only that is half true.

The UVA rays are sun related. The UVB rays are daylight related, no matter what
the weather's like out there those rays are still damaging your skin. So, the first
prevention option is to wear a sun screen all the time during the day. Your SPF
should be at least 15 and you should start wearing it at the earliest possible age.

IRRITATION AND DEHYDRATION
Skin irritation can be caused by the sun or by the fragrance that's in cosmetics.
Usually, cosmetic companies use lots of fragrance in their products to mask the
harsh ingredients they are using.

Dehydration makes lines more visible as well. An irritated and dehydrated skin
wrinkles faster. Both external irritants and dehydration are breaking your moisture
barrier (the balance of the water and oil in your skin) and make your skin more
vulnerable to environmental damage. So, your prevention option is to use
treatments that will reduce the chance of irritation and to use the right product for
a proper hydration of your skin.

Let's talk about repairing the wrinkles

It's been proven that skin in optimum condition is better able to resist wrinkles
and delivers more energies to repair.

The treatment that helps with the wrinkles stimulates the collagen production of
the skin.
I've met lots of ladies asking me to recommend them a moisturizer with collagen.
Ladies, there's no such a thing. The collagen is produced by your body. If a
product contains collagen it will do nothing for your skin, the collagen needs to
come from YOU.  All you can do is to use those kind of treatments that have
ingredients like peptides that stimulate your own collagen production.

So, your repair option is to use treatments that are supplying the energy and
nutrients to repair your skin while protecting it at the same time.
Another method is Botox which is very popular. Botox injections are working this
way - they will paralyze the facial muscles that form frowns. Unfortunately, the
effect wears off in few months.
